Submissions

We want this blog to be a casual exchange of ideas, thoughts, and information. Also a forum for writers to publish some of their work. We will accept submissions on any number of topics, but be aware of the following:

  1. We do not pay for content. Maybe this will change in the future, but for the time, this is a non-profit endeavor.
  2. While we are happy to credit you with a byline that includes any self-promotional information (in fact, we encourage it!), we aren’t likely to accept blog posts that are all about SEO or advertising of your services or products.
  3. Everyone can write; not everyone can write well. While we’re happy to fix some typos for you, we aren’t going to accept poorly written pieces. You don’t have to a be a professional or even semi-professional writer to submit something to us, but you do have to have a good grasp of the English language. Here’s a tip: If you don’t know how to use a semi-colon correctly, don’t use it. And at least one of us considers the Oxford comma the only acceptable comma format.
  4. You retain all rights to your material. We will keep active all submissions for a minimum of 30 days. If after 30 days you would like us to remove your submission, we will do so. Tip: if we publish your post, it counts as being a published work as far as many other publishers are concerned. Therefore, if you wish to submit something you already published here to someone else, be aware that this is considered previously published work. You might need to rewrite it for it to be accepted elsewhere.
  5. If you are interested in writing on a regular basis, let us know. Be prepared to submit writing samples (links to other blog posts or articles you have written will suffice). We don’t know it all, or even pretend to, so if you are an expert in something in particular or just have a real passion for a particular topic and you’d like to spread that around, we would love to have you on-board!

Please send submissions to Edwina (at) acommonsea (dot) com.
